The Brief
GEMS commissioned ROW.D to document a CSI donation handover to Botlokwa Special School in Limpopo — a school serving learners with special needs, including students diagnosed with epilepsy and other chronic conditions requiring on-site medical management. The school had approached GEMS for support in strengthening its capacity to manage the day-to-day medical needs of its learners, improving clinical readiness and care efficiency in an environment with limited access to specialist healthcare.
GEMS’s donation addressed these specific needs directly — providing a medical fridge, a mobile Dinamap, an oxygen cylinder, a haemoglobin testing kit, a medicine trolley, surgical masks, and sanitary pads. Each item was selected to respond to a documented need at the school, reflecting GEMS’s commitment to meaningful, targeted CSI investment rather than generic donations.
The Challenge
The brief also required the finished video to communicate something beyond a simple handover — to tell the story of why this school needed this support, what the children who attend it experience daily, and what GEMS's donation means for their safety and wellbeing going forward.
What ROW.D Delivered
Post-production shaped the footage into a 3-minute corporate responsibility film that tells the full arc of the initiative — from the school's need, through GEMS's response, to the tangible impact the donated equipment will have on the safety and care of learners. The final video was delivered for use across GEMS's CSI reporting, ESG communications, and stakeholder presentations.
